Do It Yourself (1977)

Solo for voice-over(s)/tape(s) – indeterminate duration

This piece was to become the first of a series of Do It Yourself works and consists of a short text score allowing the composer to perform with herself/himself. It speaks of creating a ‘do it yourself kit’ involving: duration, number of tape channels, time length of score pages, material and structuring. I have not included recordings of this work as obviously it can sound like anything. It is dedicated to the E. German singer, Roswitha Trexler who was my first East German contact leading towards very important collaborations. She would sing my Müller Lieder a few years later.
