Programme note: To celebrate a ’round number birthday’ of the composer’s close colleague, Simon Emmerson, a collaboration with their institute’s resident Dirty Electronics Ensemble was called for in which musical and spoken samples from Emmerson and his works formed much of the sonic material as well as the ensemble’s DIY instruments and DIY loudspeakers allowing for a human-movement spatialised performance of these materials merging Emmerson’s work and charismatic voice, not to mention loads of terms he is associated with in his writing with Landy’s sampling and John Richards and his Dirty Electronics Ensemble DIY aesthetic.
